This is a recepie for Potato soup! It's a huge pot of potato, ground beef in a tomato-based stew sauce. Everyone loves it, and it's easy to make for 10-12 people.
This is a 10 people variant, requiring a huge 11 liter pot. You can adjust amounts yourself. The recepie is in english, referring to ingredients found in Norwegian grocery stores.

Ingredients
- 2,5 kg. potato (solid cooking - "kokefast"). Not amandine or mandel. Preferably large "nypotet"
- 4 packs of 400g ground beef
- 2 medium sized celery root (Sellerirot)
- 2 large onions
- 2-3 cans of Tomato Puree
- 2-3 litres of water
- Butter (Meierismør) for frying
- Dark bullion (Mørk kjøttbuljong)
- Pepper
- Cumin
- Chili paste (for instance Siracha) or Chili ketchup (Heinz)
Preparation
Peel the potatoes and celery root
Peel the potatoes and celery root
Slice the potatoes in fairly large slices, at least 1 cm each. Dice the celery root into 1,5cm cubes
Mix together and put them in a pot and add water until they are covered (2-3 liters usually. Make a note of how much)
Bring to a boil and slowly cook until the potatoes are just about done, usually around 20 minutes
Fry the ground beef, sprinkle with a little powdered bullion towards the end (for flavour). Set aside.
Peel and dice the onions (large cuts), fry until golden. Set aside.

In the end, add spices by making a sauce mix and add back to the water. Pull up half a liter of water in a pitcher (1 litre plastic measuring pitchers are good), mix in bullion (equivalent of 2 cubes per litre water), tomato puree, cumin, chili and pepper. You get a goopy sauce mix in the end. If in doubt, hold back on some of it and add more as you go (as with sauces and spices - start low, go slow).
Add the sauce mix, ground beef and onions to the pot. Keep adding spices until you are satisfied, just remember that it takes a minute for pepper and cumin to be absorbed by the stew.
Serve and enjoy. Works great with red wine! No sides required.
PS Keep or share the leftovers, it is even better the next day! By then the stew would have been reduced. Add some water, microwave and have at it!
